Defensive Tackle

6'6" 302 lbs

RS Senior (2years of Eligibility)

Christian is a Duke transfer who checks a lot of boxes: size, athleticism, intelligence, and plays a position of need. However, his lack of production and playing time at Duke is concerning. When I see a man who possesses his size and quickness but doesn't produce, I immediately assume he lacks strength and doesn't play aggressively enough to be successful. In other words, I question if he is just a big softie.

Before making such a conclusion, I decided to watch film of one of his best games against Charlotte in 2021. What I saw is that when Christian played violently up the field, which he mostly did in this game, he was very effective. However, at times he would stand straight up and play on his heels and would get pushed around. I'm assuming he struggled with consistency throughout the season, so he lost playing time. In a somewhat recent interview, Rorie laments about the fact that coaches always wanted more from him. After watching his film, so do I.

In 2022, Duke ushered in a new coaching staff and Rorie didn't see the field. I can assure you that coach Kinne and defensive line coach O'Guin will not expect any less from Christian. Because of his size, athleticism, and playing a position of need, he earns 3.5 stars, which means the ability is there but he needs to show more. My hope is that he marries himself to coach Hugh and O'Guin.
