Our Rating Process
Though we award Stars, our ratings are site-specific and unrelated to mainstream services like 247 or Rivals. We consider six key areas that we believe are important to Texas State:

-
Relative size and strength for the position. For example, a 6'5" 320-pound offensive tackle would earn 5 stars for his height and weight component of measurables.
-
Relative speed for the position (Verified). We look at track times and 20-yard shuttles for offensive linemen.
-
Athleticism and Skill (Subjective based on film review). Game film weighs heavily, and we usually include comments about what we saw on film. We also consider a player's vertical as evidence of athleticism.
-
Production/Statistics (Preferably college & marquee high school games).
-
Depth at your position. Positions of need weigh more favorably.
-
Other (Offer List, GPA, Post-Season Awards, coaches' quotes, injury history, etc...)
What we don't consider:
-
What other rating services think. Those ratings are mostly based on how big you are and how many offers you have.
-
Your high school stats if you have sufficient college stats. For high school players, we look at marquee games against good opponents. Track times weigh heavily.
-
What school you're transferring from unless it's Alabama or Georgia.
