Alex Harkey is a diamond in the rough. I love TEs that convert to OT because they're usually very athletic for their size. I'm reminded of Eric Winston's conversion to OT at the University of Miami. He went on to a great career in the NFL. Alex is a long way from being the player Eric was at this point, but the potential is there. Alex has good bend, quickness, a decent base and speed for a man his size. Plus, he averaged 10pts and 10rbs playing basketball in highschool- most olinemen can't run well enough to do that at the 5A level and above in Texas.
My biggest question is does he buy-in 100%? Because in order for him to play for this coaching staff, he's going to need to improve a bunch. The players in front of him are a lot further along in their development. Alex was named All-Confernce Honorable Mention at Tyler JC and played in 4 games at Colorado. He didn't take football or his grades seriously until his senior year. Is he simply a late bloomer?
Here's how I evaluated him:
