Trez Moore
6'1" 190 lbs CB
RS Junior
UTEP Transfer
Formerly known as Latrez Shelton, Trez Moore started at CB for the Miners in 2022 and redshirted in 2023 after playing the first 4 games. Fortunately, Trez has sufficient D1 stats for us to evaluate, so I focus more on his production in this evaluation. By the way, during GJ Kinne's early signing day interview, it sounds like Trez came highly recommended by Barrick Nealy.
Below is a chart I created comparing Trez's production vs. TXST's CBs and two All-Conference SBC CBs in Ethan Johnson and Reddy Steward. Fortunately, Trez played in 13 games at UTEP, so I was able to compare him nicely vs. the 13 games TXST players played. Ethan and Reddy played 14 games, so I subtracted their last game.
What I found was a bit surprising. Trez stacks up well against our players, with slightly more production per game than our players but trailing the all-conference performers. Per snap, Trez is just as productive as Ethan and Reddy.

In fact, this comparison highlights how much improvement is needed at the CB position. Trez would be a slight improvement. However, he is one year removed from the majority of his production, and since that time his named changed, and he no longer was a starter. Not sure what to make of it, since UTEP was a mess in 2023, but is Trez Moore the same player Latrez Shelton was? If he is, Trez has a good chance of starting but at a minimum will make the 2-deep. I'm going to step out on a limb because of the Barrick Nealy endorsement and rate Trez a 4.25-star player.
