Jermy Jackson
6'1" 200lbs DE
True Freshman
Jermy is the highest-ranked recruit on my board so far during this early signing period. Much like Jordan Revels, if Jermy were 3 inches taller and 20 lbs heavier, we would be competing against the deep pockets of Texas A&M on signing day. Instead, Jermy appears to be a grossly undervalued prospect by mainstream media types, possessing an endless motor and, like Revels, plays much bigger than his size.
Jermy was a three-year starter at Waxahachie HS, which is in the toughest football district in the state, if not the nation. He consistently faced D1 prospects, and it was during his game against the eventual state champion Duncanville that I was most impressed. To put it politely, Jermy got the best of Duncanville LT and Baylor commit Desean Bryant in that game, finishing with 2 sacks despite being routinely double-teamed. I saw violent hands and a relentlessness that I love to see in football players. Those who follow Dallas high school know and respect Jermy Jackson.
However, even though he's my top recruit by a small margin (my #2 can really play too) during the early signing period, Jermy falls just shy of being a 5-star recruit because he needs further physical development with the guidance of Coach Huth, and I would also like to see a bit more consistency. Which upperclassman is going to be like Brian Holloway and show these young guys how to prepare and practice?
