Commentary:

This man is on the verge of breaking out. A quarterback and shooting guard in high school, Illinois recruited him as an athlete projected at tight end. After receiving zero playing time in his first three years, Griffin impressively persevered during his redshirt junior year to the point where he was fully entrenched in the rotation, culminating in a 4-reception season opener against a very good Kansas Jayhawks football team. He ended the year with 12 receptions, 1 touchdown, and 161 yards in the Big Ten. That may not sound like a lot of production, but it's more than any other tight end on our roster, including our starter Konnor Fox, who I think is slated for a big year barring injury. Griffin instantly makes our tight end room better and becomes an immediate threat on third down.
